Fire Suppression Services - Cowlitz1 is responsible for responding to and controlling various types of fires.  Our service area includes residential homes, agricultural businesses, manufacturing facilities, retail and commercial businesses, recreational facilities along with rural wooded and grassland areas.  The department's training and equipment is diverse to provide capabilities in all these different settings.

Emergency Medical Services - The department has expertise with managing medical emergencies ranging from heart or diabetic problems to trauma patients resulting from automobile crashes.  Personnel vary in qualifications from our entry level First Responder / CPR skills to Emergency Medical Technicians capable of starting IV's and administering fluids. 

Rescue - Cowlitz1 participates with adjacent agencies in providing assistance for high angle rope rescue.  The service area also includes extensive waterways requiring the department to respond to water rescues.  Special equipment and training are maintained by the department for extrication of entrapped individuals in car wrecks.

Public Education - Fire prevention and public education involve onging activities surrounding inspecting new building construction and other programs specifically aimed at children regarding fire safety.  Cowlitz1 takes advantage of several community events to help promote fire safety by setting up booths and being available to answer questions.
